Travel to Strasbourg
Choose a more sustainable way to travel!
We encourage all congress participants to consider the environmental impact of their journey.
Whenever possible, travelling by train is the most sustainable option to reach Strasbourg.
If you plan to come by car, we strongly recommend carpooling, which reduces emissions and traffic while making your journey more convivial.
Air travel should be considered only when no reasonable alternative is available.
What difference does your travel choice make?
As an example, for a journey of around 450-500 km (e.g., Paris, Geneva, Brussels or Milan to Strasbourg), greenhouse gas emissions vary considerably depending on the mode of transport;
According to calculations based on the ADEME simulator, such a trip generates approximately:
– 1.44 kg CO₂ by high-speed train (TGV)
– 53.3 kg CO₂ per person by carpooling
– 107 kg CO₂ when driving alone
– 110 kg CO₂ by plane
in other words, travelling by train can emit more than 70 times less CO₂ than flying or driving alone, while carpooling can halve emissions compared to solo driving.
